Master Bathroom Rehab

We basically gutted our entire 1960's home beginning in November of 2011.  We had no clue what an undertaking it was and IS as we still have a lot to do!  And for a person who takes forever to make any decision, the millions of choices we had to make made it all the more difficult.

For 7 months, we'd go to work and then come to this mess of a place to rip down smoked drenched walls, paint nearly 2,000 SF of space, sweep up rat @#$%, and countless of other jobs.  It was difficult, exhausting, and expensive but our final outcomes of each space made it so worth it!

One of my favorites is our master bathroom.  Although, we still need to put in a glass shower door, make a towel rack, add in a toilet paper holder, the crisp clean white walls speak to one of our great  accomplishments in our crazy renovation mania.

In the original bathroom, there was a washer/dryer unit, a shower directly in the middle of the bathroom and then this teeny space for the vanity.
We stole two feet of the bathroom to make the kitchen bigger, so we moved the washer/dryer downstairs.  Well, we craiglisted these bad boys to purchase some new front loaders.
We gutted out the tiny stand-up shower for a normal size shower pan and pushed it length-wise against the wall. Without increasing the plumbing bill any more, we decided it was best to leave the toilet it in it's current location.  And of course we got a new one to replace the dingy old one!

We wanted to do 2 inch Hexagon white tiles but our walls
were way too crooked to make it look nice and even, so we had to go with modern 12x24 tiles.

I love the mix metals in this bathroom.  I paired antique brass hardware and light fixtures with polished chrome faucet and shower fixtures.  It's a bit of an eclectic mix with some vintage and modern touches and we love it all!
